Simon Bloom is currently finishing recording and mixing his new CD: Hollow Butterfly. Mixed by Vagelis Zisis and mastered by Ted Jensen the album will be out soon and ready to buy in selected stores and online. Updates to come.

Simon Bloom (aka Simon Nikolaidis) was born a Sagittarius, in Athens, on the 6th of December 1974. At the age of 15, while studying at Athens' Campion International School, Simon began his musical quest by learning to play drums and percussion. At the age of 19, meanwhile majoring in Communication Studies at the Mediterranean University, he switched to... acoustic guitar. This inspired him to start writing lyrics, music and soundscapes.

At the age of 21 Simon's love for the 'analogue sound' and the music of the '60s / '70s (from Bob Dylan through to Bob Marley) brought him to the decision to start building a studio for his recordings and production of demo songs from people with an alternative musical outlook. In '97 Shakti Studio was born.

From the age of 22 Simon Bloom became a self-taught audio engineer recording various alternative bands. Simon's introduction to film work started with the recording (as a recording engineer) of the "See You in Hell my Darling"(1999) soundtrack (music by Nikos Touliatos).

Simon turned his hand to acting and played in the movie "Loser Takes All"(2003) starring alongside Yannis Agellakas (singer of the rock band Trypes). Having two of his songs appear on-screen and on the commercial soundtrack CD saw Simon's initial public release. In 2005 Simon composed the complete soundtrack music for a new film "Zero Years" set for release in late '05.

Simon is currently preparing his second demo album "State of Emergency" which follows his collection "Real Shadows"(2004), containing 11 full length songs. You can hear excerpts from these albums on the music page.

Simon Bloom started gigging, with drumming in the 90's with a young rock band called 'Stone Dead' then played on a Cambridge based band called "Happy Death" and continued playing gigs in the '00s as electric guitarist with a reggae band called 'Spliffification' (aka 'Attiko Minus'). Currently working on material with his new band for future gigs, Simon will be seen in the live music scene again very shortly. Check out the events pages for news updates and gig listings!
