Studio Shakti began its life in 1997 situated in the north of Athens at the foot of Pedeli mountain in a place called "where the wind blows" Kifissia.
Starting out initially with just the necessary equipment; an ADAT, a Mackie 32 console and some cheap outboards, slowly but surely the proper equipment was carefully chosen and the sound just took off. Real analogue sound. With those precious outboards and the help of a friend, a systems engineer, they were able to create an excellent hybrid system. A HD3 system in conjunction with custom build tube and transistor pre's manage to take the edge off the digital recording and make it sound warm and realistic in a completely manipulative digital environment. The best of both worlds.
Other than Simon Bloom's recordings, the studio has been used for countless demo recordings of alternative music such as blues, reggae, jazz fusion, rock, space funk and others. It has also been used for surround sound editing for two movies.
